Alumim

Carrot packing house

The original carrot packing house was the first large facility set up on Kibbutz Alumim.

Over the years the packing house's sorting capabilities have grown in quality and quantity.

In recent years, in every season we will process over 16,000 tonnes of fresh carrots, mainly from Alumim's own fields. All of Kibbutz Alumim’s field crops are Global GAP certified.

From the packing house we send fresh produce for export to Russia, Europe, the UK and the United States, as well as to the Israeli domestic market through the Tnuva company.

The packing house has a range of machinery accommodating different packing methods and different types of packaging - all according to our customers' specifications.

The packing house works all year round. From November to June, we sort produce direct from the field, and from July to October we package from refrigerated storage.

This packing house employs about 20 staff in two shifts, employees come from neighbouring towns and villages.

All of Alumim's packing facilities are certified as conforming to BRC Global standards - which guarantee the standardisation of quality, safety and operational criteria, ensure that manufacturers fulfil their legal obligations and provide protection for the end consumer.

Global GAP (Good Agricultural Practice), sets worldwide standards for certification of agricultural products.

Kibbutz Alumim won the Global GAP Award in 2013.
